Along with millions of others I watched Joe Wurzelbackher, AKA Joe the Plumber, confront Barack Obama while he was campaigning in Ohio concerning confiscation of his Hard Earned dollars that Joe will make working as a Plumber. At the same time I was pleased that Obama said in plain language what he intends to inflict on the working class if elected: take from those who work and give it to those who don’t.

I know from observation, while working for a short time as a plumber’s helper, how difficult the plumber’s profession is; the cramped working spaces, wear and tear on their shoulders, knees, backs and neck. They crawl through dirt under some houses that are covered with fleas, snakes, rats, spiders, ticks, scorpions, centipedes, nails and broken glass. They handle used toilet drain pipes that carry many dangerous diseases. It’s a difficult job. This is an honorable profession, unlike the one Obama occupies his time with.

Obama states that he’ll steal from Joe (and others like him) if he grosses more than $250.000 a year. Obviously Obama has never worked with his hands for a living, and much less as a plumber.

I’m for Freedom

  • Freedom to worship the one true God,
  • Freedom to keep and bear arms,
  • Freedom to keep the fruit of my labor,
  • Freedom from oppression,
  • Freedom to come and go as I please,
  • Freedom to live my life in Peace-Profit and Tranquility,
  • Freedom to drive my truck at any time,
  • Freedom to watch my Grand daughter (God Bless Her) grow up,
  • Freedom to ride my Mountain Bike,
  • Freedom from the Central Governments over-reaching into our lives where our Constitution doesn’t give it the authority to go.

That’s why I’m voting for McCain and Palin.

Thank You, Joe the Plumber.

Recently I’ve observed that working out on my Mountain Bike, although sufficient in exercise, didn’t maintain that fitness effect through the next day. I’m 64, so working out every day is a little too much stress. True, when I was younger I would have grown stronger riding my Mountain Bike everyday. I had to come up with a system that split the difference.

The difference was an abbreviated Mountain Bike work-out every other day. This “off day” work-out consists of forty push-ups, followed by two minutes of leg lifts four inches off the floor while lying on my back. Then 25 shoulder exercises with a 20 lb, six feet breaker bar. I’m feeling the warm blood flowing through my stomach and shoulders. This is followed by stretching. This is the extent of my warm up.

Normally I head out down the Mountain from my house; on my off day I turn right ascending to the other ridge, which has tributaries branching out in all directions with mostly shallow downgrades with ample curves. I ride for only one to two miles pushing myself at only 50 to 75 percent maximum output. This is enough to raise the heart rate, and receive a good oxygen buzz.

This alternate workout effect lasts me for the day, and I sleep very well that night. If there are any old Mountain Bikers reading this blog, I suggest you try it. Let me know how it works for you.
